Two Oh Oh Six

Bidding farewell to 2005, a new year begins. The interesting thing about time is that you will come to realise that it crawls when you look forward to something, but seem to have flown right by when you look into the past. I'm not sure if that only happens to me, but surely something must have happened between the past and the future that creates such a vast difference. 2005 new year seems like just yesterday. But if you asked me to think about 2007, i can't see it coming because there're still so many challenges i am anticipating, not necessarily relishing, to come in 2006. The thing that happens between crawling and flying is what they call the present, the shapeless, formless present that always slips from you. Ever elusive, the term that defines the present is a contradiction in itself. The word "now" doesn't exist. Sounds crazy? think about it. What is "now"? The moment you say it it becomes the past. So did the moment become "just now"? How just is now?

Anyway, these are questions that will only start to bug most people after their retirement. What's wrong with me. So, time to move on to things that people of my age should be talking about. First week of 2006 has just passed. In short, it was "jay-chou-week". Finally watched the media asia productions Initial D, and fell in love with 珊瑚海 and 夜曲 in his "十一月的肖邦", november chopin. ( dunno how to write xiao1 bang1 lah. xiao bang is chopin in chinese. the first time i asked edwin for it, i asked him for a jay chou album called "二十一世纪的chopin". 21st century chopin. -_- Shows how good i am with chinese and chinese pop.)

Initial D was really good! But that was probably because i haven't watched the anime before, the anime people said the cartoon's better. So i guess it was good that i never watched the anime, so i can enjoy the movie more and compare less. Anyway i never watched initial D because i used to think it didn't make sense to watch cartoon cars doing skills that would be nicer if it was real. But but now i feel like watching it. The songs of the movie are really nice!! vivian asked me if i found the girl in the movie pretty. As much as the question sounded like a trick to me, i said yes. Well edwin and her both didn't think so. But aiyah i'm not fussy about these things, and it's difficult to be pretty by edwin's standards. He's like the ISO9000:2000.

So much for the Jay Chou week. In between all the entertainment, i've been trying to catch up with work! and caught up quite abit with maths. But gotta work harder. Let me get to the main point of this post. New year resolutions.

At the start of every year, we must have aims that we wish to achieve at the end of the year, or changes, be it short or medium term, that we wish to see in ourselves or our lifestyles. A short term goal is defined as a goal that i foresee myself breaking very soon, so i'll just achieve it for a while and get it over and done with.
Short Term Goals, herein referred to as STGs:
Sleep early and Wake up early. 早睡早起身体好。By sleep early i don't mean a.m. early. this goal is something which i've been wanting to do for a long time. but never had to discipline to do it. because it's very out of sync with that of the people around me. But hey! i can sleep through war cries (eg "WICKED SICK!!!", "DOMINATING!!!", "HOLIEEEEEEE SHIIIIIIT!") of battles being waged out in my room. I can pretty much sleep through anything. So i must try to achieve this STG!
Do more work and Play less games. I thought that now that i've completed my Need for Speed Underground II, i can focus more on work. But noooooo... i had to watch a really inspiring movie called INITIAL D! Now i wanna go zeng my Subaru WRX Impreza. But it's OK to play, but only after i finish my work. Anyway, with some many deadlines coming, and so many singsoc events coming up, i won't have much time to juggle between playing and working.
Medium Term Goals, herein referred to as MTGs:
To be honest, besides doing a good job as VP of singsoc, and not failing my exams in the process, would make me a really happy year 2 at the end of this academic year. I guess now till June would make a pretty decent medium term goal. So that's really important for me.

Anyway, i shall end with the STG and MTGs here. Because it's 2.25 am. and i really need to try to achieve STG number 1. May you have yourself a great 2006 ahead, and here's wishing you all the very best in your undertakings for this year.
